Recycled Textbooks packs donated books for World Vision
Recycled Textbooks supports World Vision’s overseas education programs by collecting, sorting and
packing old edition textbooks into class sets ready for World Vision to distribute where needed.
The books we pack are selected titles that have been approved by the education authorities of
the overseas countries as matching their curriculum and culture. This can be a lengthy process but
significantly reduces resource waste.
You can help Recycled Textbooks meet World Vision’s requirements by donating the approved
titles. These text books need to be in good to excellent condition, all book covers intact, secure and
without graffiti, with no torn or missing pages. Some workbooks can be donated –these can only be
sent by World Vision if they are completely free of writing, pen and pencil.
Approved titles are selected from the following subject areas:- maths, science, English, atlases and
dictionaries.
The following books are not accepted:-
- Encyclopedia sets
- University Text books
- Damaged books
- Magazines
- Books in poor condition
- Condensed Books
Recycled Textbooks is a small store with limited space, thus books for donation to Word Vision
should not be left at the shop between the 1st October and the 15th February. We gladly accept and
appreciate donated books being left at the shop between mid February and mid September. Books
are packed with assistance from volunteers and sent to World Vision in early March each year and a
book drive is conducted through the schools annually in term 3.
